Developing and managing the code for hundreds or thousands of virtual computers, even in an agent architecture, can be a daunting task. The Paracell Navigator environment simplifies the job, and encourages parallel thinking while developing a program. This is often the largest challenge to engineers who are new to the PIM; making the transition from thinking of programs sequentially to thinking of them as parallel.

The Navigator is represented as a 3x3 matrix. This matrix extends 10 levels down so that applications can be easily broken down. The graphical version of the Navigator assists in doing so, and in managing the application. Different images on each "node" provide guidance on the overall application. For example, if a node goes no further down, it is shown as a "brick wall." Paracell Tiles that contain code show the first few lines of the code in the node. Nodes that point further down the pyramid have representations of the next lower level. For example, the node above has 7 or its 9 sub-nodes occupied. Similarly, the node labeled "Simulation Agents" in the example above has 5 additional nodes developed, and four available which are shown as "brick walls." The Navigator images on the right of the window help keep track of where the developer is in the overall pyramid.
