Notes:
The latest addition to the PIM family of products is the NT-PIM. In this configuration, the PIM engine executes on a laptop or desktop running Windows NT 4.0. Like the PowerPIM, the NT-PIM features a variable frame rate and can be configured with up to 4,000 processing cells. The major difference between the PowerPIM and the NT-PIM lies in real-time performance. Where the PowerPIM is guaranteed real-time, the real-time performance of the NT-PIM is “soft.” That is, it can be affected by the amount of processing time NT provides to the PIM application.
An NT-PIM can be configured stand-alone, whereby the PIM and the Paracell Navigator environment are resident on the same platform, or as a runtime platform, where the development environment is connected to the NT-PIM via TCP/IP.
The NT-PIM is an ideal environment for simulations, or for development of applications that will subsequently run on a PowerPIM. Applications developed on one can be seamlessly migrated to the other. Both benefit from the power and productivity of the Paracell programming language and the Paracell Navigator development environment.
Overall, the NT-PIM offers a cost-effective way to take advantage of agent-based systems and architectures, and to implement powerful, robust simulations and solutions.
