Paracell is the language of the PIM. The language was designed specifically for the parallel architecture of the PIM.

Though simple, the example above illustrates the English-like nature of the code. The language was designed to work within a parallel architecture. Becoming comfortable with this approach is typically the largest challenge to those used to working with sequential processing languages. Rather than programming a solution in a top-down manner, Paracell applications are often developed bottom-up, by establishing agents and allowing those agents to interact.

This simple approach to programming, combined with the English-like nature of the language, makes it easy to deliver solutions that are later enhanced or expanded by the application users. In our General Motors application, the solution was developed by a process engineer, maintained by an electrician, and all of this was accomplished with a 20:1 reduction in required source code.
