Notes:
For off-site development or for simulation systems, Flavors offers the standalone NT-PIM.
As shown above, the Paracell Navigator development environment, ParaScope HMI through LabView, and the PIM runtime all reside on the same Intel-based platform. As previously mentioned, the NT-PIM comes closest to real-time performance when the NT-PIM engine is the only software running on the platform. However, even in the configuration shown above where the PIM engine shares processing time with the Navigator and LabView, the PIM execution model remains constant. In other words, all cells reading, executing, and writing is maintained.
This becomes important when the standalone configuration is used for development of solutions that will subsequently be migrated to another configuration, such as a PowerPIM. By keeping the model and execution consistent, developers can expect equal or better performance of their solutions when they are migrated to a dedicated PIM engine.
In the meantime, for development of simulations or for demonstrations of how a solution might be implemented using an agent-based system, the standalone NT-PIM offers an ideal cost-effective platform.
