Flavors Manufacturing Agility Server (MAS) is a NIST/ATP sponsored project. The goal of the project is to develop and deploy a real-time, agent-based dynamic reassignment engine. This product will be applied to manufacturing lines characterized by similar devices, for example, an automotive welding line or an PCB assembly line.
These lines typically have devices with overlapping capabilities and excess capacity. The task of MAS is to monitor the state of the line, and in the event of device failure reassign the failed devices function to other devices best suited to take on those tasks.
MAS is an agent-based implementation featuring device agents, operation agents, cell agents, and so on. MAS connects to the plant floor I/O via DeviceNet.
